GET back to feeling great and doing what you love

DR. GEMMA SMITH

OSTEOPATH

MEET GEMMA

Gemma has known she wanted to be an osteopath since she was sixteen — a hip injury, a physio who helped her actually understand what was going on, and that was it. That same instinct drives how she treats. She's drawn to patients who want to understand their bodies and take an active role in their recovery. Lower body injuries are her sweet spot, combining hands-on treatment with a practical rehab plan to get you back to what you love. You'll love how clearly she explains what's going on and leaves you with a plan you can actually follow. Outside the clinic, she's training hard with her eye on a HYROX event and fully convinced that this summer is the one she finally stands up on a surfboard. (Partner Josh has been hearing this for years.) She cannot eat peaches. The texture of velvet is entirely to blame.

DR. TOM GUBBINS

OSTEOPATH

MEET TOM

Tom calls himself a 'movement promoter', and he means it. He believes the body has more capacity than most people give it credit for, and it's that belief that follows him into the treatment room. His favourite patient? The curious one. Not just trying to get through an injury, but genuinely interested in getting the most out of their body. A skilled manipulator with a particular love of lower extremity rehab, feet especially, Tom looks at the whole picture, not just where it hurts. In the last few years he's made patient education a clear focus, making sure you understand exactly what's going on and why the plan looks the way it does. You'll love his positivity and the sense that he's genuinely in your corner from the first session. Outside the clinic, he's up to 22 consecutive Pier to Pubs, quietly putting in gym sessions you'd never know about, and chasing a single-figure golf handicap while training toward a full Ironman. Harry Potter fan, live music lover, and still carrying the Quay Osteo pub trivia team.

DR. CASEY MEEHAN

OSTEOPATH

MEET CASEY

Casey has a knack for spotting what people are actually capable of, sometimes before they can see it themselves. Whether it's the patient with a clear goal and a plan, or the one who turned up only because their partner insisted, he finds the same satisfaction in both: connecting the dots between where you are and where you want to get to. He's a confident manipulator with deep hands-on experience, and despite his size, as gentle as the situation calls for. Casey adjusts to every individual, which is why his patient list runs from tradies and footballers to retirees managing arthritis and everyone in between. You'll love how quickly he figures out what you actually need, not just what you came in for. Away from the clinic, he's a player-coach at Teesdale Cricket Club. Good practice, it turns out, for managing a room full of different personalities with a shared goal. Summer is cricket, winter is St Kilda. The banter is year-round.

DR. LAURA WALSH

OSTEOPATH/DIRECTOR

MEET LAURA

Some cases need more time and more layers. Complex, chronic, or conditions that haven't responded to the obvious things. That's Laura's caseload. She works two days a week by referral. Her clinical background spans soft tissue, manipulation and paediatric care, with cranial osteopathy and orofacial OMT as areas of deep and continuing study. She combines techniques that most practitioners use in isolation, and approaches every case with both the skill set and the patience it deserves. You'll love the sense that someone finally understands what's been going on, and is completely invested in finding a way through it. Laura started Quay Osteo because connection sits at the heart of how she works, and she wanted a team that felt the same way. She's always behind the scenes making sure it stays that way. Outside the clinic, she is mountain bike obsessed with two kids who keep everything honest.

GINNI

PRACTICE MANAGER

MEET GINNI

Ginni is arguably the heart and soul of Quay Osteo. Her welcoming smile and regular laughter make her a favourite with clients keen for a little catch up while they wait for their appointment. Ginni’s passion for our community and helping others mean that she always has her ear to the ground for how we can be of service to those in need. With 3 boys of her own, she spends a lot of time driving to and from cricket and sitting watching for hours in between. Cooking is one of her great loves, and the Quay Osteo team is spoiled by her talent and generosity in the kitchen.

JACQUI

RECEPTIONIST

MEET JACQUI

Before Quay Osteo, Jacqui was looking after first class passengers on Virgin Atlantic or running her own beauty salon in NZ or running a pub in Ireland with her husband, Mark. The common thread, she'll tell you, is people. She's the first face you see when you walk through the door, and most appointments begin the same way: with a laugh. Putting people at ease comes naturally to her. What she knows is that arriving a little less tense than you expected makes a difference, and she takes that seriously. Her favourite part of the job? Watching people walk out better than they walked in. Outside the clinic, she's a Surfcoast convert. The four men in her life are her son, her husband, and two dogs who have never once been told no. Jacqui's week is built around sport sidelines, dog walks and a well-earned wine at the end of the week.
